Step-by-step walkthrough for commissioning a Deye AI-W5.1 BESS system via the Deye Cloud app. Covers all five stages from plant creation to final confirmation.
All physical wiring is complete and double-checked (see Smart Meter Wiring Guide)
Battery modules are stacked, PDU connected, and DC breaker is OFF
AC breaker is OFF
Solar DC isolator is OFF
Deye Cloud app is installed on your phone (iOS or Android)
You have a Deye Cloud account (register through the app if needed)
Enter the customer's address as the plant location
Set plant type to match the installation (residential / commercial)
Assign a clear name the customer will recognise in their own app view
Tap "Scan Devices" — the app will detect all nearby Deye units
Select the correct inverter serial number from the scan results
If multiple units are present (parallel install), each unit must be discovered and added individually
Select the customer's home WiFi from the list
Enter the WiFi password — double-check for accuracy
Wait for the connection confirmation before proceeding
Grid Mode — set to match the installation type (grid-tied, off-grid, or hybrid)
Battery Mode — select the correct battery chemistry (Lithium-ion for AI-W5.1-B modules)
Solar Self-Consumption — typically the default operating mode for residential installs
Grid Setting — must match Australian grid parameters (AS4777.2)
Battery Setting — charge/discharge limits, depth of discharge
Time Calibration — sync the system clock for accurate data logging and time-of-use scheduling
Operational Mode — self-consumption, time-of-use, or backup-only depending on customer preference
Review the diagnostic summary — all items should show green
Tap "Confirm" to complete the commissioning in the app
Now energise the system: close the DC breaker, then the AC breaker, then the solar isolator
Monitor the app for 5–10 minutes to verify the system is operating correctly
